Botany:
Referring to plant species in which male and female flowers occur on separate individuals. Each plant therefore bears either male or female flowers.

Zoology/Entomology:
Referring to species whose life cycle involves an alternation between different host plants. In aphids, the term is used for species that alternate between two different, usually unrelated host plants during their life cycle.
